Sally porch

I’m going to tell you about my experience getting rid of parasites from our daughter’s body using essential oils.  If you have read this blog much at all, you will notice that I tend to go the crunchy route on health and medical issues.  So if you are “not down with that” (my husband and I love to say that and watch our kids roll their eyes :) then you might want to check another website :)

Anyway, we brought our precious girl, Sally, home in May of 2011.

Sally in Ethiopia

Sally and me still in Ethiopia

She was 19 months at the time

I hadn’t even thought about parasites until a few months later when some of my new Ethiopian mom friends were all talking about it on Facebook.  Some kids have more pronounced symptoms, but I hadn’t really put 2 and 2 together in our situation.  As I think back, she had an distended stomach, she definitely was malnourished and her poop was always pretty hard.

So I went to the hospital lab and had her poop checked

Yep.  Parasites.  I was already working hard to get her nutrition back up to snuff and again, was loathe to put her on the 3 day medication that the doc recommended, because I thought it would hurt her gut flora even more.  Yet, I wanted those parasites out so that her nutrition could improve quickly.  Kind of a rock and a hard place.  Anyway, against my better judgement, I went with the 3-day power meds.  Putting it mildly, they were hell for her to take (sorry about that, but…)  And she’s usually a pretty easy young lady.

Awful tasting.  She threw it up a number of times.  I barely got any of it down her and it was traumatic.  And I was out of the med.

Do I go back and get more or do I follow my instincts and use the essential oils?

Ya know, we Americans always want a quick fix.  I’m no different.  I wanted it out and out now.  But that’s not always how our body’s work and this is a paradigm shift (just like many others we’ve all experienced over the years.)  We have to give it time.  Relax.  Promote health.  Eat well.  Let the body heal.  It wants to.  It will.  But we have to give it a chance.  We have to put the body is a position to heal.

I finally talked to a lady, the awesome Debra Raybern,  who was more experienced than I with the oils.

ocotea oil

She told me to get Ocotea Essential Oil

(These are Young Living Oils, by the way) She said put 3 drops in Sally’s 8 ounces of milk (that’s raw milk) morning and night for 3 months.  Ok.  I will.  I was diligent and had her tested 3 months later and the parasites were gone.  Hallelujah!

Gotta say, after 5 years using these oils, I’m a believer.

God bless you all and your babies and families and keep up the good work!!
