After being heavy into the Dave Ramsey get-out-of-debt plan for the last year along with many people I know, it occurred to me that there are still people out there, many I’m sure, that don’t quite realize why it is critical to get out of debt.  This is for them.

Thank you Alison! I always fill lifted up by your encouragement and appreciate you sharing your story!

My husband and I go back and forth with this exact issue. We had credit card debt in the 5 digits in January 09. We paid that off in lightening speed using some of Dave Ramseys’ methods and then plateaued. We are not completely on the same page and that can be difficult. But we are taking steps in the right direction and continue to move forward in a loving and God centered way.

I agree with you 100% that we are slaves to whomever we owe. And personally, I only have one Master that I need to obey and answer to….God!

I am going to go back and read your other posts about this subject. Thanks again!
    Blessings

      Beth,
Thanks so much. Your comments are always a big encouragement to me. Keep up the good work. My husband and I don’t always agree on details here and there either. It is a constant work in progress. 2 people from 2 different backgrounds. Sheesh. It’s just God’s miracle that we all get as far as we do! Bless you.

    Well done!!
Very honest but genuine & sincere. You have a way of getting through to people.
One question though; where do you get the Dave Ramsey wallet? We are mostly out of debt using that snowball idea & agreement that it is the only way to go, but I’d still love to have something like that with envelopes & things. I’ve tried carrying around actual envelopes but they become a little cumbersome after a while. Wonder if I could ‘craft’ something up to use like that? Hmmmm, got me thinkin. :)
    Anyhow, good job!

    Penny,
Thanks so much! Just checked the store at daveramsey.com. They have several really nice wallets (some I like better than mine). They are 50% off right now priced at 9.98. Regular 20.00. The paper inserts are 4.00. I agree, regular envelopes are kind of a pain. That wallet makes me like doing the plan :) I thought about crafting something, but then…Im not very crafty:)

    Hey Allison!
Great video and message! :) We listened to all of Dave Ramsey’s DVDs and my husband even did a class using them for my high school-aged son last fall. (We called it Consumer Math.) We, too, live like you — it is very freeing not to have charge card bills! It does take discipline to get out of the habit of charging but it is SO worth it. Thanks so much for your video!

    Blessings,
    Dana

    Hi Allison,

I just wanted to say thanks for introducing my family to the Dave Ramsey methodologies. We started the FPU class a few weeks ago and are having a great time learning about finances.
Congratulations on the new IMac too. You are obviously using it well.

    Andrew,
So sorry to just now be responding. Guess it slipped through the cracks. Im so excited for you and your family! Keep up the good work. It is definitely a process with hard moments as you figure out a new way to live that you were probably never taught. We were all hard-wired the wrong way on this subject. So give yourself time and eventually, it will become your natural way of being. Eventually you will be appalled at the things you used to spend money on that you would never think of spending money on anymore. God Bless You All!

  7. Andrew says:

Thanks for the encouragement and advice Allison. I will keep it in mind.
Many years to you and yours.

    Andrew
