I was working on another post this morning when the following happened:
The Flood
Last night when I turned on the kitchen faucet, water poured out under the sink and onto the kitchen floor. It was 5:30pm and we were not going to call the plumber on overtime. We were in the middle of feeding our family and our good friends for a total of 16 people. So we made do with the pantry sink. I was happy that I had a pantry sink.
The Plumber
This morning the plumber came by. At first he said, you will probably need a new faucet. Ugh. You’re kidding. He realized the leak was coming from the hose line. He said it is unlikely he would find a replacement line because these were generally sold in one complete unit, but he would go ahead and look anyway at the plumber supply store.
The Name
Motivated by not wanting to buy a NEW FAUCET, but wary of throwing Jesus out there, I did it anyway! I said, “Well, in Jesus name I believe you will find one.” Who knew how he felt about that comment. He looked at me kind of funny (I’m sure he was thinking “ok lady, whatever.”)
This was the only picture I got of him. I’m sorry Mr. Plumber that I didn’t get a pic with your eyes open. He was very nice. Husband and father of 4 children about the same age as our children.
The Agreement
He walked out the door and I looked over at my 11 year old daughter who had been sitting there during the whole thing doing her schoolwork.
We both did a hi-5. I said “Agree with me that he will find the hose in Jesus name.” She said “I agree!” (We do this all the time.)
The Result
He came back in about 15 minutes and said “I can’t believe it. I found one.”
Emma and I glanced at each other and smiled. He said, “I went to the guy at the store and he said no, I don’t have any of those. Nothing was in the computer. But then we walked back to the back and there was this hose sitting there. It was not in the computer.”
I know some of you will think this is just a silly coincidence and has nothing to do with a prayer we might say, but I say, “we do this all the time and it works.” Have a great day!
“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:19-20
This story had me smiling with that “knowing” smile that has become more common in recent days as I begin to truly acknowledge that our Lord is vitally interested in the “every day” things, if we WOULD but call on His Name to perform on our behalf.
How much good we miss out on, even if it would be just a needed
hose!!
So blessed by this…thank you, AGAIN!!
Amen!
Whoohoo! FAITH SCHOOL 101! The power of life and death (and the kitchen sink) are in the tongue!
awesome. He reigns.
AMEN is right!
